Presidential and vice presidential candidates Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar were set to undergo health checks at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital in (RSPAD) Jakarta on Saturday.
The pair arrived at the hospital separately. Baswedan was seen in a white shirt arriving at 7 a.m. local time, while Iskandar arrived at 6:50 a.m. local time.
Baswedan-Iskandar was the first pair to register their bid as presidential and vice presidential candidates at the General Election Commission (KPU) on Thursday.
The pair is supported by the Coalition of Change for Unity (KPP) that brings together the National Democratic Party (Nasdem), Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and National Awakening Party (PKB).
Head of the Gatot Subroto Hospital Lt Gen. Budi Sulistya stated that the pair will undergo the health check for 8-10 hours.
"The health check will be conducted for 8-10 hours, depending on the tests," Sulistya remarked.
The medical test would be conducted professionally, independently, and truthfully, he noted.
"Basically, the health check will be conducted in accordance with the routine stages," he stated.
KPU Chief Hasyim Asy'ari remarked that Baswedan-Iskandar was the first pair to undergo the medical test.
"The result of the test is beyond KPU's authority, and RSPAD will issue the result whether or not (the candidates) pass the medical test," he stated.
The KPU has scheduled the registration of presidential and vice presidential candidates on October 19-25, 2023.
Two candidate pairs -- Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD -- have officially registered with the KPU.
Pranowo-Mahfud pair was supported by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI), the United Development Party (PPP), the People's Conscience Party (Hanura), and the Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo).
