The Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) is operating normally, despite unrest in some areas in Indonesia's capital city, including around Thamrin street.

The Corporate Secretary Division Head of Jakarta MRT, Muhamad Kamaludin, stated that the MRT is operating using two entrances near the Hotel Indonesia (HI) roundabout, as Thamrin Street is closed.

"Up to now, the MRT has been running normally," Kamaludin told Antara here on Wednesday.

However, passengers using the entrance to HI Roundabout Station can only enter and exit through the eastern doors and stairs near the Plaza Index Tower and Pertamina Lubricants Tower, Kamaludin noted.

Meanwhile, the entrance near the Japanese Embassy in Jakarta and in front of Plaza Indonesia remained partially open, while prepared to close, if necessary.

Kamaludin mentioned that as many as six security personnel have been placed at each station of the Jakarta MRT.

Moreover, security at each station has been tightened, with additional checkpoints and officers at station entrances.

"Our security officers are on guard and alert at each entrance, anticipating if there is any abnormal mass action," he said.

Kamaluddin added that the Jakarta MRT was also intensively coordinating with the police and TNI to secure the area around MRT stations.

Some disturbances occurred in several areas in Jakarta, but the overall condition in the Indonesian capital remains safe.
