People may disagree, but regulations offer constitutional ways. We can file the lawsuit until Friday
Secretary General of the Democratic Party Hinca Panjaitan has recommended that the Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno pair take legal action that abides by the Constitution in the wake of the alleged election fraud.

"We had earlier discussed about lodging a lawsuit with the Constitutional Court. The Democratic Party advised that the Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno pair take the constitutional route," Panjaitan remarked after attending the meeting of the National Winning Body (BPN) here on Tuesday.

He confirmed that a decision was taken at the BPN meeting on Tuesday morning to file a lawsuit in the Constitutional Court, thereby demonstrating that the BPN had chosen a constitutional route and employed channels offered by the Constitution.

Panjaitan stated that the BPN had filled a lawsuit with the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) some days back.

"People may disagree, but regulations offer constitutional ways. We can file the lawsuit until Friday," he affirmed.

The Democratic Party has distanced itself from the "people power" movement since it believes it is not a tool to tackle electoral issues.

Based on the final national vote count, the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin pair bagged 85 million, or 55.5 percent of the public vote, while the Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno pair had secured 68 million votes, or 44.5 percent.

Head of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Arief Budiman remarked that the losing candidate pair can challenge the poll result in the Constitutional Court within three days of the official declaration of the vote count.
