The General Election Commission's (KPU's) Vote Count Information System (Situng) preliminary result, Monday, 10:15 a.m. local time, indicated Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-Ma'ruf Amin leading with 58,522,127 votes, or 56.30 percent of the total 103,949,336 entries.
Presidential contender Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Sandiaga Uno procured 45,427,209 votes, or 43.70 percent, KPU Situng noted on its official website.
The preliminary vote entries were from 551,812 polling stations, or 67.84 percent of the total 813,350 polling stations set by the Commission throughout the nation and Indonesian representative offices overseas.
Situng's vote entries came from the provinces of Bengkulu, Bangka Belitung Islands, Bali, West Kalimantan, Southeast Sulawesi, Gorontalo, and West Sulawesi, among others, that had completed 90 percent of the vote counts.
The Commission has made it clear that Situng's data entries are not the official vote counts of the 2019 presidential and legislative elections.
On April 17, 2019, Indonesia had held simultaneous legislative and presidential elections, believed to be the world's largest and most complex single-day democratic exercise.
The mammoth elections witnessed the unforeseen deaths of 440 polling attendants, 93 election supervisors, and 22 police officers due to exhaustion while fulfilling their electoral duties. At least 3,788 polling station officers fell ill due to fatigue after clocking prolonged hours, reaching over 24 hours before, during, and after polling day.
In the meantime, on May 3, 2019, the Information Technology (IT) Volunteers of the Prabowo Subianto Campaign Team (BPN) brought to the notice of the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) a total of 73,716 mistaken vote data entries on KPU's Situng.
"At first, we came across 9,440 (incorrect data entries), and the figure thereafter rose to 73,715 entries on Situng during the period between April 27 and May 2, 2019," Mustofa Nahrawardaya, coordinator of the BPN's IT Volunteers, had remarked last Friday.
Inconsistencies in the vote data entry took place in at least 477,021 polling stations.
"Central Java recorded the largest number of inconsistencies, particularly in 7,666 polling stations, some 5,826 polling stations in East Java, 4,327 polling stations in North Sumatra, 3,296 polling stations in South Sumatra, and 3,219 polling stations in South Sulawesi," he stated.
The permissible room for error in the IT system is 0.1 percent, while 15.4 percent was recorded in the KPU Situng.
He appealed to the Commission to put a stop to data entries on the Situng and to conduct a forensic audit of the KPU IT.
