Jokowi-Amin pair outstrips Subianto-Uno in Brunei Darussalam

The Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-Ma'ruf Amin presidential and vice-presidential candidate pair have outdistanced the Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno pair in the simultaneous elections organized in Brunei Darussalam, winning 8,051 votes, or 68.18 percent of the voters.

Languishing behind were challengers Subianto-Uno, with 3,560 votes, or 30.15 percent, while 198 ballots, or 1.67 percent, were declared invalid, a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan noted, Monday.

The outcomes were derived from a nearly 15-hour-long ballot counting at the Bandar Seri Begawan Overseas Polling Stations (TPSLN), Apr 17, commencing from 14:00 local time.

People in Brunei Darussalam went to vote on April 14, 2019, at the Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan where 25 TPSLNs and one postal ballot facility were readied.

Some 11,132 people, or 61.11 percent of the total 18,215 included on the Final Voters List, cast their ballot.

In the legislative election, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) emerged the most popular, bagging 3,733 votes, followed by the National Awakening Party (PKB) pocketing 1,662 votes, and the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) securing 1,314 votes.

The vote counting was done in the presence of Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Sujatmiko, Overseas Election Committee (PPLN), Election Oversight Committee (Panwaslu), representatives from the Jokowi-Ma'ruf and Prabowo-Sandiaga candidate pairs, representatives from political parties, and several Indonesian community members in Brunei Darussalam.

Meanwhile, in Cairo, Egypt, Prabowo Subianto won 4,739 votes or 73.40 percent, while Jokowi 1,597 votes or  24.74 percent.
