Due to Malaysia's specific condition, PPLN Kuala Lumpur provides three voting systems for voters in the country. The Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, confirmed to have received election logistics for the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections.
Speaking in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, Puji Sumarsono, a member of PPLN Kuala Lumpur, stated that the election logistics, including ballot boxes and ballot papers, are secured in the Indonesian Embassy compound.
The PPLN personnel had checked and re-checked the condition and number of received ballot papers and found that 452,065 or 99.8 percent of the ballot papers for the parliamentary election are in good condition.
They also found that 451,692 or 99.7 percent of the total number of ballot papers for the presidential election are also in good condition and can be distributed to voters on Feb 14, Sumarsono stated.
PPLN Kuala Lumpur would immediately send a request for additional ballot papers for both parliamentary and presidential elections to Indonesia's General Elections Commission (KPU) prior to voting day, he added.
Due to Malaysia's specific condition, PPLN Kuala Lumpur provides three voting systems for voters in the country.
First, the voters may cast their votes at ballot booths that the Overseas Polling Station Working Committee (KPPSLN) has set up.
Second, the voters may use mobile voting boxes, and third, they may mail their ballot papers to the KPPSLN by using Malaysia's postal service.
For the mailing voting system, the KPPSLN makes it effective from January 2 to February 14, while the mobile voting boxes are made effective on Feb 4-11, and ballot booths on Feb 11.
The PPLN Kuala Lumpur has decided to set up ballot booths at Chow Kit's World Trade Center compound, he revealed, adding that all voters' ballot papers would be counted on Feb 14.
The KPU has announced that the presidential and parliamentary elections will be held simultaneously across Indonesia on February 14, 2024.
The commission has officially set a 75-day election campaign period from November 28, 2023, to February 10, 2024, for the three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates.
All participating political parties and presidential contenders have pledged to conduct peaceful presidential and parliamentary elections.
As part of its efforts to make voters aware of the three candidate pairs' political pledges, the commission has organized five rounds of debates ahead of the presidential election.
The first and second rounds were held on December 12 and December 22, 2023. The third and fourth rounds will take place on January 7 and January 21, 2024, and the fifth round will be held on February 4, 2024.
Three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are contesting the presidential election: Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.
Baswedan and Iskandar have been nominated with the support of the NasDem Party, National Awakening Party (PKB), Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and Ummat Party.
Meanwhile, Subianto and Raka have the backing of the Gerindra Party and a coalition of parties, including Golkar, National Mandate Party (PAN), Democratic Party, and Gelora Party.
