President Joko Widodo reminded the 2024 election organizers to avoid committing technical mistakes that could have political implications that disrupt the nation's conducive situation.

Widodo made this statement at the 2023 National Consolidation Meeting for the Readiness of the 2024 General Elections held at Gelora Bung Karno here on Saturday.

The event was attended by 6,183 participants who are officers of the General Election Commission (KPU) throughout Indonesia.

"We must be careful about these small matters because technical mistakes could have political implications," he cautioned.

The head of state underscored the need for all election organizers to anticipate challenges of the digital era and thwart bad services that can harm the legitimacy of the election results.

"Ensure the reliability of election information systems and support devices to function properly. They must be transparent and open, and do not let hacking happen. Be careful about this," he remarked.

Widodo stated that the 2024 election is mandated by law that has very complex challenges, and it must be carried out as well as possible through good governance and readiness of officers.

According to Widodo, election organizers need to pay attention to the availability and distribution of logistics, including system readiness and technology.

"Do not miss anything. Nothing must be wrong, including technical aspects," he remarked.

He again reminded the attendees of the importance of maintaining the neutrality of KPU officers, state servants (ASN), and the Indonesian Military-the National Police (TNI-Polri) for the sake of honest and fair elections.

KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Attorney General Burhanuddin, and some representatives from the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) attended the meeting.
